Digitisation & Cataloguing Assistant Vacancies

The Marx Memorial Library is looking for

two Digitisation & Cataloguing Assistants to work on our Poster Collection

The Marx Memorial Library (MML) is looking for two enthusiastic Digitisation and Cataloguing Assistants with experience working in a library, archive or a museum environment, excellent attention to detail and good IT skills.

The MML is a library, archive and education charity with a world-class collection of books, pamphlets and archives on Marxism, the history of socialism and the working-class movement. Our small, dynamic team is based in a Grade II listed building on Clerkenwell Green. This is an opportunity to gain valuable experience in the heritage sector, working with our unique collection of 2,000 posters covering subjects including the Russian Revolution, the Spanish Civil War and Anti-Apartheid campaigns.

You must be an effective team-player; cataloguing and image editing experience are desirable.

This opportunity is ideally suited to students on MA Digital Humanities and Archives and Records Management courses. Hours are negotiable, but we anticipate that successful candidates will be able to commit to approximately 15-20 hours per week over 2-3 days for a 4 to 5-month period (total 320 hours at £11 p/h in April-August 2018).

To apply please email Meirian Jump, Archivist & Library Manager, for an application pack at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Deadline for applications: Midday Monday 26 March.
